ESRI Virtual Campus

In 2016, ESRI revamped their online learning program. Rather than employees requesting access codes, they are now able to directly order courses for themselves.

Participants must be employed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) or Resource Conservation Districts (RCD).

Using the EFT Waterway Sizing Wizard

This video is a re-recording of an Engineering Field Tool's (EFT) Waterway Wizard webinar originally presented March 2017 by NRCS Area 6 Engineer, Aaron Peter. The terminology used assumes the viewer has some waterway design experience.  The Waterway Wizard is a Utility within the EFT software that allows the user to input waterway design parameters for a single reach and checks tractive stress and capacity. It provides outputs of velocity, bottom width, and required depth. It is a an abbreviated version of the full Waterway Design Tool (WDT) within EFT.

EFH2 Software

Website to download NRCS Technical Tools.

The EFH-2 software implements the procedures described in the NEH 650 - Engineering Field Handbook Chapter 2 (EFH-2) for estimating runoff and peak discharge.  Required information includes watershed characteristics (drainage area, runoff curve number, watershed length, watershed slope) and rainfall amount and rainfall distribution.  The link below will take you to the NRCS Tech Tools page.  Find and download the latest version of EFH-2.

Watershed Tools Overview

Time: 21:52; This webinar is a recorded PowerPoint showing the NRCS Engineering Tools-Watershed Tools and other Tools in ArcMap. The first ~19 minutes covers the steps to delineate a watershed and determine a composite RCN.  At 19:39, other useful tools in the Toolboxes are explained.
